THE GOOD
Think of the entry of the Moon into the Sign of Leo as the Queen entering into the throne room of the King. This is not her own seat of power per se, but she is second in authority only to the King, and only she can enter such a place without being bidden by another.
The Moon has great power here - she holds the regal scepter, wielding it to make decrees and see them through. She empowers us to become kings and queens over our own lives. She offers us the authority to determine what we want to change and evolve in our own lives, and to manifest our desires and see them through. This is not the time for deliberation and thought - this is the time to connect to what you truly want and manifest that into reality.
What do you want, deep, deep down, that you have been afraid of pursuing and chasing in your life? What concrete, actionable steps can you take in the next few days to pursue your deepest desires and make the ideal vision of your life a reality?
Our only easy aspect comes through a sextile from Mars in the superior position, which - let’s be honest - is not the best. If you were looking for even more fire during this period to stoke your will and help you get things done, then this is the aspect for you. But don’t indulge in the frustration and anger that Mars will bring to the Moon just as easily.
THE BAD
Leo periods have this inherent fire to them, and the sextile from Mars will stoke the flame. However, there are three aspects this period that keep anything from manifesting in an easy way.
This period will showcase a very challenging opposition from Saturn until March 7th, 2023, when Saturn leaves Aquarius and moves into Pisces. In traditional astrology, oppositions are already of the nature of Saturn, creating roadblocks, obstacles, and frustration between the planets involved. This is a serious influx of Saturnine energy - external circumstances, events, and situations will arise that make you doubt your truth, your value, and your own connection to the absolute.
However, each time this happens, you can use it as an opportunity to mindfully work through a similar lesson. Know that once per month for the next two years. Focus on integrating and accepting the stillness and cold maturity that Saturn provides. Saturn offers us the opportunity to learn wisdom and stillness within the fires of Leo. What can you do to embrace the ecstasy of the moment without losing your center or your meditative awareness?
The square to the Sun caries over from last period. In other words, the the divine lovers are still quarreling, and as a result the base-line levels of flow and harmony in the world greatly diminish. Obstacles and roadblocks to the enactment of your will in the material world will continue to arise. All the more reason for you to try and remain in a yin, open, and receptive place. The Divine is not asking you to hold fast to your own will right now - it wants you to surrender into something greater.
We also have an opposition from Jupiter. Jupiter will throw situations at you that test your inner mettle, leadership potential, and authority. How can you transcend doubt and disagreement from other people? What will you do to cultivate the inner teacher - the inner guru - and tune out the voices of others which make you doubt yourself? Jupiter will test your resolve, and deepen your connection to Source in the process. These are hard lessons for which you will ultimately be very thankful.
Don’t try and push yourself too much during this period. Let your inner fire grow without needing it to spread elsewhere. Try to cultivate your inner strength during this period without trying to project it onto the world around you. How can you connect to your own enthusiasm and passion without trying to control reality? What can you do to integrate the force of your fire into the world without needing it to explode outward immediately?
THE WYRD
The Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) decrees that the Leo Moon period is a fabulous time for enchanting rings (note the regality) and performing binding spells. You’ll be best off binding things and situations that limit you and push back against the beauty that you want to create in the world. Don’t be afraid to own your desires and actively work against things that have gotten in your way. Sometimes you need to push for what you want. There is a God of War for a reason.
And speaking of the God of War…do a Mars Ritual Tuesday Evening. The applying sextile that the Moon makes to Mars opens up a special doorway for infusing yourself with even more willpower and focus to conquer and claim what you want. Go forth, take what you want, and bulldoze any opposition (just don’t be an ass!).
Remember, everything that I tell you here needs to be indexed to your natal chart, especially the house placement of the Moon, any major transits and the time lords in your life. A strong period for one person may be more challenging for another. I am currently taking on new clients for readings, and I would be very happy to walk you through your own chart and astrological weather - book a session with me here!

Moon in Leo: Light-sharing of the Moon with the Sun - strong essential dignity. Leo functions as the Moon’s diurnal, solar domicile, since her and the Sun are two halves of the same coin. The Leo Moon is an excellent period for being productive and getting a lot done. After going inward during the Moon’s travels through Cancer, you can take the insights and wisdom received there and apply them towards something practical. The Moon in Leo has a focused drive to accomplish quite a lot, since the fiery passion to act combines with the steadiness and reliability of a fixed sign.
Triplicity and Quadruplicity: Fixed fire. Fixedness indicates prolonged activities and an overall steadiness in people’s moods. The Moon in fixed signs makes activities more stable and their duration longer. The fire element indicates the realm of spirit and ideals, and the Moon in a fire sign often expresses more enthusiasm, spontaneity, and creative, heart-centered expressionism.
Moon’s ruler: Inferior Fixed Square to the Sun in Taurus. Insofar as the Sun is the Moon’s ruler here, the square indicates challenges for manifesting long-term results and making anything come of this period. However. an aspect between the Moon and the Sun, her ruler, does provide protection from the harsher sides of the opposition to Saturn.
Relationship to the Sun: See above. The square means that there will be tension between the environment and your own will and agenda.
Aspects
Inferior Fixed Square to Venus in Taurus. There are strained relationships between yourself and others. The arts suffer, and the muses lie silent. However, the essential dignity of Venus in Taurus could help to transmute this tension into something positive and harmonious.
Inferior Sextile to Mars in Gemini: Initiative and drive will increase, with more impulse to accomplish a lot and get much done. This can come at the cost of internal frustration, however you will be bolstered by feeling a fire lit underneath you driving you towards success.
Fixed Opposition to Jupiter in Aquarius. Challenges related to personal growth and awareness. Financial strains and difficulties making money, But potential for growth if you work hard. Mentors coming in with harder lessons.
Fixed Opposition to Saturn in Aquarius. Stronger potential for depression, doubt, and negative self-talk. Could easily become overpowered by negative feelings. A fog may come over you at times leaving you feeling depressed and anxious.
