THE GOOD
The queen of heaven has entered into her garden - the rich, rooted, fertile sign of Taurus. This is where the Moon is exalted. Now she is able to provide all the material blessings that she so desperately wants to give to all of us. For this reason, Taurus Moon periods provide a lot of material stability and groundedness, and it is easier to find the things that you need.
Even better, she forms a sextile to Venus, who rules and tends to this sign. This brings a lot of emotional uplift and interpersonal harmony. This is an excellent time to cultivate relationship, especially engaging in activities in the material realm. Both these celestial Goddesses are essentially dignified right now in their exaltations.
We also have sextiles forming from the Sun and Mercury. The Sun and Moon are like a marital pair - when they are in a sextile aspect, they create more harmony in the world. This is a happy marriage. We on the earth feel more ease and flow, and it is easier to enact our agenda onto the world.
When Mercury and the Moon behold each other in a positive aspect like this, the use of the voice and mind become easier and more fruitful. However, the strength of your speech will be limited with Mercury’s current detriment in Pisces - don’t strive for too much abstraction and rarified discussion in your use of the voice. Focus on the emotional realms instead.
THE BAD
There is a nasty square from Saturn. Saturn is in the superior position, meaning that it has a lot of power over the Moon. There can be a lot of negative self-talk and personal frustration. If you are prone to depression and shame spirals, you could find yourself being taken over by thought-loops and negative reality-tunnels.
However, I want to point out that there are two (maybe three, depending on how you count it) mitigating factors involved here. First, both the Moon and Saturn are in essential dignity, which makes them each more positive. Second, the sextile from the Moon’s ruler, Venus, allows you to receive a lot of help and grace - especially from other people - for this difficulty from Saturn, .
The square from Jupiter could provide some issues. Tension with authority figures, difficulties manifesting abundance and emotional buoyancy. This square is much easier to overcome though - the natural benefic character of Jupiter wants to give its gifts to you. It just takes more effort and time.
THE WYRD
Venus Magic! “But Merlin, how could I do Venus magic on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday?” you may ask. The Planetary hours are more important than the days! This is something I tell all my clients. Pick a Venus hour and get to work. I think that spells focused around attracting the material reality that you want to yourself would be ideal. Anything that focusses in on the earth realm.
The most common translation of the Greek magical papyri (PGM) says that Taurus Moon periods are excellent for an “incantation to a lamp”. Looking at the original Greek, I read this more as “into a lamp.” In other words, this is a good time to do magic that involves chanting your intention and desire into a lamp, candle, or other kind of portable light. I direct your attention to the traditions of magicians in many cultures throughout history who have seen Fire as a messenger to the Gods who channels prayers into heaven. This is probably playing on that mythos.
Remember, everything that I tell you here needs to be indexed to your natal chart, especially the house placement of the Moon, any major transits and the time lords in your life. A strong period for one person may be more challenging for another. Moon in Taurus: This is the Moon’s exaltation - a very positive place for the Moon where she and her significations are lifted up and greatly supported. Physical work and care of the body are each highly effective during this time. The Moon herself is also more benefic during this period, making this a good time to do lunar magic and workings.
Triplicity and Quadruplicity: Fixed Earth. Fixedness indicates prolonged activities and an overall steadiness in people’s moods. The Moon in fixed signs makes activities more stable and their duration longer. The earth element emphasizes the physical body and propensity for work, and the Moon in an earth sign often expresses more practicality, groundedness, and a concern for the material world.
Moon’s ruler: Inferior Sextile to Venus in Pisces. This provides moderate support to the Moon. She will be protected from some of the nastier sides of the Moon-Saturn square this period. People’s emotions will be less likely to get out of hand.
Relationship to the Sun: Inferior Sextile to the Sun in Pisces. There is harmony between your own desires and intentions and what your environment and circumstances support. Things will work out more easily and with more flow.
Aspects
Inferior Sextile to Mercury in Pisces. If it was possible to eke some positivity out of a poorly-placed Mercury, now would be the time. Talk about your feelings with other people. You may find technical issues arising that are totally weird and completely inexplainable.
Inferior Fixed Square to Jupiter in Aquarius. You may find hard lessons coming your way from people you respect, or challenges arising to test your personal resolve and conviction. Financial worries may come your way too. All of this can be resolved and made to work in your favor if you confront the issues that arise instead of running away from them. These troubles will be quite persistent with the fixed nature of the square.
Inferior Fixed Square to Saturn in Aquarius. Heavy negative self-talk, rumination, challenges with self-worth and esteem. Confusion and lack of clarity can also be present. It will be difficult to get anything done. These troubles will be quite persistent with the fixed nature of the square.
