April 19th – Moon in Pisces

We start the week off the way the last one ended, with the moon in Pisces,

As mentioned last week, the moon in Pisces is a fairly positive placement. As a triplicity lord of Water signs, she has some dignity here. This will be an excellent day for emotional exploration and self-care. Deep, soul-sharing conversations with people close to you will also be easier to carry out during this time. Visions may also come to you.

However, it can be easy to get caught up in your own emotional process in Pisces. This will be exacerbated by the conjunction to Neptune, which brings a level of delusion, illusion, and cloudiness to whatever it touches. It’s on this day that the conjunction becomes exact. Be mindful that you don’t get too lost in your own experience and perceptions, and strive to come back to reality. The messages, insights, and visions that you receive which cannot ground back into reality were functionally never real to begin with. But the ones that linger and become a part of your life are surely worth saving.

One thing that will make this easier is the fact that the moon forms a sextile to her ruler, Jupiter. Today that sextile becomes exact as well. The sextile to her ruler helps to ensure that the work done while the moon is here will have a greater chance to ground into reality and become something. The emotional and inner work you do during this time has the potential to be long-lasting, especially considering the earth-sign placement of the moon’s lord, Jupiter.

From this Jupiter sextile you may expect to find teachers, guides, and helping hands coming into your life today to aid you in your emotional process. You will not need to travel these waters alone – help is available to you, and chances are it will come without asking.

April 20th – 22nd – Moon in Aries

After her stay in Pisces, the moon will ingress into the sign of Aries on April 20th, and stay there till halfway through April 22nd. This is a neutral placement for the moon. She is peregrine here in medieval astrology, without any essential dignity and so completely at the mercy of her host, Mars. In Hellenistic astrology, she is in the place of her sectmate: since the Moon and Mars are both of the nighttime sect, there is some kinship felt between the moon and her ruler, and so she is not completely debilitated here.

The moon in Aries makes for a very fiery, energized, productive couple of days. There is greater potential to get things done, and you may feel inspired to accomplish and achieve more than usual. This placement affords greater opportunity to achieve success at any goals you give yourself. However, the heat of Aries can easily cause the moon to burn out, and we generally see that people with this placement natally will have bursts of enthusiasm and inspiration that are difficult to maintain. Use these couple of days as a time to get creative and enact some new ideas, but don’t expect all of the inspiration to carry over very far.

Fortunately, the moon forms of a sextile to her ruler Mars on the 20th. This is a good indicator that the things she signifies are more likely to ground and become a reality. The work that you do during this time will be sure to bear fruit. On a more psychological level, you will feel the peak of your passion and drive on the 20th when the sextile becomes exact. This is a great indicator for positive motivation and drive to get things accomplished

On the 21st, the moon will conjoin Mercury in Aries. This is an excellent day for creative expression, getting your ideas out there and sharing your thoughts with friends. If you run a company or manage other people, this is a wonderful time to have meetings and brainstorming sessions (all virtually right now, of course!). Journaling and channeling your inspiration into the written word will be very successful and take you very far today.

The moon will also form a sextile to venus. This helps to promote group activities and social cohesion. You are more likely to get along with friends and family, and conversations are more likely to go smoothly. This will also help to support teamwork in a business setting, and ensure that meetings are productive.

On the 22nd, the moon forms a square to Pluto. The positive inspiration of Aries will continue, but you may find some darker emotions swelling up today. Depression and confusion are common feelings related to Pluto. If you haven’t taken measures to keep yourself from burning out, then the fatigue and exhaustion may hit you very strongly. Be sure to take care of yourself – wearing a ruby or bloodstone – active stones related to Mars – will help to fend off any negative mental loops and keep you centered in your creativity and Spirit.

April 22rd – 24th – Moon in Taurus

After her stint in Aries, the Moon moves into her exaltation in the Sign of Taurus. These next two-and-a-half days will be positive for emotional development and physical support. This is an excellent period to take care of your body and nourish yourself. Use this quarantine as an excuse to stay in and pamper yourself. Take a salt bath, eat healthy foods, and give yourself a massage.

The fact that the moon is in her exaltation is the only really positive indicator for the next few days, which is all the more reason to just stay inside and take care of yourself. For one, the moon does not form an aspect to her ruler Venus, and so she doesn’t have help grounding or integrating her significations here. Don’t expect projects that are begun during this time to last very long or remain realistic.

The 22nd is a new moon, which makes this a great day to write out new intentions and do ritual and dedication around them. New goals and milestones are easier to achieve if they are begun on or around a new moon. You can read more about the new moon in Taurus here.

The moon is conjunct Uranus on this day as well. At best, you may experience out-of-this-world insights about your life that feel difficult to integrate. At worst, something difficult or painful could happen to your body – all the more reason to stay inside on the 22nd. The nature of Uranus is chaotic and difficult to predict, in part since astrologers don’t have millenia of experience with it as with the other seven traditional planets. But generally, the results of a moon-uranus conjunction are difficult. And create troubles related to the body and mind.

The moon also forms squares to Saturn and Mars on the 22nd. If it wasn’t for the fact that the moon was in her exaltation, this would be a very bad thing. You may experience bursts of anger and frustration from the square to mars, maybe at a romantic partner for not being present to your needs, or maybe at your favorite astrologer for being too negative about the moon’s motions through Taurus. Either way, it will be easier to turn this energy into something positive and productive, and if you can let go of thought loops that obsess over things and hold grudges, you will be able to reach a very comfortable state of non-attachment and contentment with your situation.

The Saturn square may make it difficult for you to get the things you need in order to nourish and take care of yourself. Maybe the grocery store is out of Epsom salts, or candles, or some other thing you were really hoping to have. You may find it difficult to connect with other people and share your feelings with them. You may find that you are guilting yourself for doing something you love when other people are suffering, or because of some other high-minded consideration that involves all of humanity. Turqouise, a stone co-ruled by Saturn and the Moon, will be helpful to have around during this day.

If you can get through the crazy ups and downs of the 22nd, you will receive some help on the 23rd and 24th from the moon’s trine to Jupiter. Though Jupiter is currently in fall, he can still offer us some help, even if this help merely takes the shape of a stern and hard lesson from a mentor, or a realization that the one thing you have to do to fix all your troubles is some very boring, repetitive, mundane task, like exercising or meditating daily. Still, some help is better than none. By the 24th, the aspects to the difficult planets will be long-enough gone that you won’t notice them as much, and you can just enjoy the emotional and material buoyancy that comes from the moon-jupiter trine.

April 25th – Moon in Gemini

On April 25th, the moon becomes peregrine in the sign of Gemini. This is a good day for mental activity: writing and journaling are both activities that will be supported today. The air signs are also considered the most social signs – calling friends and having conversations will be natural activities to occur now, and you will find yourself being chattier and more verbal than usual, especially if you have planets in the sign of Gemini natally.  On the downside, Moon in Gemini can create anxiety and nervous tension, as one has the desire to engage in a million things at once, becoming overwhelmed very easily.

Fortunately, she will be applying a sextile to her ruler mercury throughout her stay here. This helps the moon to stay grounded and supported during her time here, without getting too far up in the clouds and disconnected from reality. This will also serve as usual to help ground her significations and make them longer lasting. Conversation, dialogue, and discussion will in general be more productive because of this sextile.

And this is all the more so true because of the conjunction to Venus. The moon-Venus conjunction will make people friendlier towards each other and more inclined to be helpful. Conversations will run more smoothly, and the mutual sharing of ideas through discussion and debate will be more fruitful. If you are able to visit friends during this quarantine, today would be a good day to do so.

As always, if you have any questions or would like to explore this more thoroughly in your own natal chart, feel free to book a session with me. I would be more than happy to explore this transit with your in more detail.
